scrub the rust off then slather it in oil with a high smoke point. then put it in the oven at 180°f for an hour. then take it out put another layer of oil then put it back in the oven for another hour. pray your wife doesn't get home before it's done and don't EVER put it in the dishwasher again.

Scrub the rust off with vinegar, rinse, dry, slather the pan with bacon fat, Crisco, or tallow. Place in a 400 degree oven upside-down on a lined baking sheet for an hour…then buy chocolates and flowers.

serious answer. my grandmother had a very rusted cast iorn she wanted to give to me. she made a big fire and threw it in. after the rust burned away (outside) we dusted it off and re seasoned it. that was about 14 years ago. I still use it today

Send your lady for a mani/pedi. While she's gone, steel wool or Brillo pad and Barkeeper's Friend to get the rust off, then rub oil all over it with a cloth. If you have any leftover bacon grease, pour it in there, put in the oven on the lowest temp for an hour or so, remove, cool, wipe down again. Go with God, sir 🫡

Cast iron in the dishwasher- cardinal sin!!! Steel wool to remove rust. Oil and bake it to reseason.

salt it really well the use half a lemon to srub the rust off. the acid will clean it without leaving a chemical taste.

my grandma would throw it in a fire... then she would pot a big scoop of lard and a bunch of salt and rub it in until the lard disappeared and the salt clumped together.. she was born in 1923 and all she cooked with was cast iron

Find you one of them fellers that takes cast iron, scrubs off all that "factory seasoning", taking it down to the bare iron, then seasons it up again.

you take a bunch of salt and cover it then take a potato and cut the end off. use the potato to scrub the salt around until the rust is off, then season as usual

You can fix it! get the yellow easy off oven cleaner spray it down let it sit scrub it real good and then reseason it
