Here's something God has shown me. We are constantly shown the scripted things and the theatrics of life. But in reality, life can be messy and hard, even for those who say they are living their best life, they just don't post it on the Internet or show it. We watch so much TV and social media, that we slowly become out of touch with reality and get caught up in what we see, rather than understanding what's real. The Bible says in Matthew 6:22-23 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be filled with darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!" This verse basically says what we watch and focus on, is what we will be full of. But further analyzing this verse and my life, I have discovered that it is warning us to be careful of what we watch, and how long we watch it. We may not realize it, because it's so common, but when we focus on something other than God, for too long, we start to lose ourselves. We start to forget where we come from and who we belong to, and we start to get caught up in the things of this world, thinking that it's what will help us, but in reality it leaves us empty. Why? Because we were designed to keep our focus on the source of life, which is the Lord. That's how humans were made. We weren't made to find fulfillment in the temporary things of the world, but to find true fulfillment in Him, because He's our source.
