@nomsmag: 🍣 After 23 years, a beloved family-run sushi spot is saying goodbye. Matsuzushi in Port Moody has officially announced its closure at the end of 2025. A closure notice was spotted by a local and shared on Red Note. The cozy Japanese restaurant, quietly run by a husband-and-wife duo, has been serving fresh sushi and heartfelt hospitality since 2001. Chef Hataguchi, who’s been making sushi since the 1960s, handled every piece at the counter while his wife managed everything else. It wasn’t flashy, but it was special — and deeply loved. Their $50 omakase, once just $25 back in 2017, became a must-try for locals who valued quality and authenticity over hype. They’ll be closed from Sept 29 to Oct 29 before their final service stretch. “To all our loyal customers,” they wrote in their note, “thank you for being part of this journey.” Another true gem saying farewell. 📍3130 St Johns St #4, Port Moody, BC 📎 Full scoop L1nk in B1o #vancouverfood

I tried it based on recs but I didn't feel it lived up to the hype. It certainly wasn't worth it imho.
