I'm from Chechnya. The real story is that when Boris Yeltsin was president of Russia, Russia lost in 1996, and the Chechens gained independence. You can search, and it's true. We defeated Russia!! They killed thousands of Russian soldiers in Chechnya, but when Putin came and became president... he employed a scorched earth policy. They bombed with aircraft and killed thousands of children and elderly people with thousands of missiles. That's how they occupied Chechnya. Search YouTube, and you'll find hundreds of videos of the Chechen war in 1996!! The Russians were defeated by a ground invasion. If there hadn't been an air attack, Chechnya would have been independent. But the winner in a war is always the one who writes and lies about the course of the war, as is shown in some of the comments.
