@miss.sweet.tea: Every Friday I spin in front of my classroom door…not just to show my OOTD (outfit of the day), but as my own little act of rebellion. Against the folks who swear curvy women must be “begging for attention” just because we refuse to shrink, hide, or dress like we’re ashamed of our bodies. I’m a teacher. I’m curvy. I’m fine. And a whole lot more. And none of those things cancel each other out. I remember what it felt like to come to work frumpy, gross, and literally uncomfortable — hiding my shape, drowning in oversized hot ass cardigans, and pretending that made me “professional.” I was miserable. Some people think that me showing up as ME is a “distraction.” But it’s actually a lesson (that some grown men need) 📝That you can respect a woman’s mind, talent, energy, and boundaries even if she’s fine. 📝That young women deserve to see examples of being brilliant, capable, and kind and unapologetically beautiful. So yes, I’ll keep spinning. For me. For my students.
