@sachistorymuseum: Happy Labor Day Weekend from all of us at the Sacramento History Museum! In honor of the weekend, Jared letterpress printed the union label, in different sized bugs, for the Allied Printing Trades Council, which had its beginnings in Sacramento since the 1890s. These bugs are cast in type metal (lead alloy) and are from the Bill Skarles Collection. These were used to show that the prints were made in a union printing office. The text below, typeset in 30 point Caslon, states, “ Look for the union label.” This was printed with blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #laborday #labordayweekend #museum #printing
