You know being a Drill Instructor is a one of a kind job. You have civilians show up and stand on the iconic yellow footprints and then you train, scream, break them down and turn them into United States Marines. The feeling is one of a kind but it’s not easy. From the demanding training schedule as a Drill Instructor with long days and the non stop running, screaming, late nights and drill drill drill! It takes a strong will and physical strength to push through, but it’s doable😤 I want every Marine who chooses to be a Drill Instructor, to have an amazing time on the drill field and thrive in it and leave with a successful tour. Now sometimes you reap what you sow when you speak your mind and don’t drink the kool-aid and it may make it harder for you but you have to endure if that’s the path you chose! What I believe makes it harder is the Drill Instrucotrs and the dumb games they like to play with the billets and “what you rate and don’t rate.” Like GTFO, I’m a grown ass man and I ain’t no one’s bitch. On top of the strong will you have to be mentally ready for it. It takes a toll on some Marines and they tap out unfortunately. But regardless my advice is always to stay true to yourself and don’t forget who you are. Being a Drill Instrucotor is just a job in that moment and you’ll have to take that Smokey Bear off one day and be the Marine and person you truly are.
