The thing about the cure is that it's not important if it would work or not it's the joel believed he thought it would work and that he chose to save ellie anyway. that being said, the cure would definitely not work because not only is the hospital and it's equipment completely unmaintained, it's also the problem of mass-producing it and shipping it out with people even want to take it? can infected be cured? also fedra would definitely not accept anything from fireflies and war would probably break out to steal it. And fireflies are also an EXTREMELY shady organization. They would definitely use it to be able to rise to power in the "new" world and the thing is also that people who gotten used to being able to get away with whatever they want are not just gonna go back to the old order they're gonna keep being savages and doing whatever the f*** they want they just won't be afraid of getting infected now. and again it's also the issue can the clickers be cured because if not you just have a bunch of monsters running around and while you can't get in fact that you can still get teared apart. also back to the equipment they can't get it professionally cleaned in a way that medical equipment should be and it's 20 years old, it's rusty and the environment is not sterile, which, by the way, to make medicine the environment they are making it and has to be completely 100% sterile which the hospital isn't and none of the places ANYWHERE anymore is
