@meghannmcuniff: Nichole McKenzie is a psychologist in Southern California who treated the woman suing Cardi B for assault after the woman filed a worker’s compensation claim. She testified in Cardi's civil trial last Tuesday (August 26, day 2). Plaintiff's lawyer Rob Rosen questioned her in direct-exam. Rosen represents Emani Ellis, who was a contract security guard at a medical center in Beverly Hills, California, in February 2018 when Cardi was there for a pregnancy check up at an OB-GYN's office. Ellis claims Cardi assaulted her and insulted her after mistakenly believing Ellis was recording video of her. Cardi, whose legal name is Belcalis Almanzar, stands by her claim that Ellis was trying to video her with her phone, and she testified the confrontation never turned physical. Rosen called McKenzie as a witness because McKenzie saw Ellis in April 2018 as Ellis, who was fired, pursued a workers' compensation claim. She offered little helpful to his case by simply repeating what Ellis told her, which Cardi's lawyer Peter Alexander of Davis Wright Tremaine in LA highlighted in cross-examination. Ellis' lawsuit originally sought $24 million in damages, but jurors have not yet heard a damages request in trial. Jurors are to return to the Los Angeles County Superior Court courthouse in Alhambra, California, on Tuesday for closing arguments.
