NP Butler :
I have enjoyed being an NP. My pay has almost tripled. I only work M-F, no holidays. I have a better work/life balance. The only thing I would say is a little draw back is that there is a lot of racism and it may take a few jobs to find your niche.

I’ve put my NP program on hold when I realized regular nurses are making almost same as NPs. Although the your job becomes more easier you take on more responsibility, too much stress in school plus more student loans

Your first misstep was asking the opinion of someone with a higher degree but preferred to work twice as hard for less. I’m a DNP Prepared NP, I work in a group and own my own practice in 3 states. 6 years experience, my only regret? Why did I not do it sooner. Go figure!

Go to school, it’s a different type of practicing nursing, so many options out there as an NP, don’t let anyone deceive you. And for those who say they don’t practice as NPs how are they maintaining their licenses. Don’t let people deceive you.

How long have you been a nurse? If you are a newer nurse you will benefit financially from becoming an NP. If you have been a nurse for over ten years you will not make what you want starting off.

My credentials: DNP, FNP-C, BSN, RN. Depending on your ultimate goals and your love for the nursing profession. For me, was both! DNP is the nursing terminal degree and I can say I have fulfilled my goals and dreams! 👩‍🎓🎓❤️Remember, the opinions you receive will be biased from someone who is happy versus someone who doesn’t like what they are doing.

NP will leave you choosing from multiple specialties, just like the regular nursing, but with more pay, respect and grace.

NPs, I believe work hours are less but you make more. Yes some RNs can make more than NPs but they will also work more for it. I'm trying to live a Soft life... And speaking from experience

With the NP, the pay comes with experience. NPs can get 2nd jobs as well. No matter how you look it, it's go to empower yourself. I'm please with my NP DNP.

NPs don’t have a cap too unless you want to work on a salary with one health system. NPs have multiple places they can work. I am finding that some people work part time and make more than full time employees. I haven’t understood it but it is a thing. NPs get benefits that RNs don’t get. I will say it is worth it. Eventually you can work for yourself. Don’t forget, you also earned an MSN that you can use to get other jobs.

Have RN certification,(associate), accumulate experience over time, and you are good. Other additional credentials will make no financial difference.

That depends on what you’re looking for. Am an NP, I don’t work in the Hospital or Drs Office, I don’t work Holidays or weekends and that exactly what I wanted. Getting a higher education is great so I’ll encourage everyone to go for their masters.
