It's an issue with the EQ + the person's voice. Same with Laurel and Yanny. The combination of certain people's natural voices (typically these low, vocal-fry commercial sounding voices), the recording environment, and the EQ make certain sounds appear when you listen in a different part of the overtone spectrum. When you're listening for low sounds you hear the Q or Laurel because the "oooh" in Q and the "oh" in Laurel produce stronger low overtones, so your ears hear it as those vowels. Compare that to "eee" in both G and Yanny, a vowel that produces more high overtones. If you listen "higher" you'll hear HGTV and Yanny.
