@melaniesandford18: Starting the winter wellness series, here is the first recipe: fermented garlic honey. It’s great to do this ahead of time before the weather starts getting colder because you want to give it about three weeks to ferment (and even longer to introduce more beneficial bacteria). Garlic and honey have anti-inflammatory antifungal and antibacterial properties. Adding fermentation on top of that can improve the health benefits by improving digestive health and boosting your immune system. The combination can help relieve coughs, sore throat, and also congestion. It is also known to help relieve inflammation in the joints because of the powerful anti-inflammatory properties and can improve your digestive health overall which can improve your overall health. Here’s what you’ll need. A mason jar, one cup of lightly chopped garlic, or you can poke holes in the garlic, one cup, or more of honey of your choice— I chose manuka because it’s my favorite. Put the garlic and honey together in the jar and make sure the garlic is fully submerged underneath the honey— if you have a fermentation weight, it’s helpful but it’s not necessary. You’re going to let it sit in a pantry or in a cool dark place for about 1 to 3 weeks or longer— burping the jar every 2 to 3 days for about 1 to 3 weeks. You can take a teaspoon of it daily to boost your immune system and also if you are sick, it can potentially help to shorten the duration of your cold and it can help to relieve cold symptoms, especially cough, sore throat, and congestion. Do not use if you are allergic to honey and never give honey to children 12 months or under because of the possibility of infant botulism. This is not medical advice, and I am not a medical professional. #naturalremedies #coldandfluseason

I started some honey and garlic last week and I noticed today that some of the garlic is turning black. Is this normal? Do I need to pour it out? I started onion and garlic at the same time and it seems fine.

It’s definitely that time of the year to prepare all my natural remedies for the upcoming sick season. Most all take about six weeks to be ready for use.
