Yeah AI has existed since the 60s for the purposes of manipulating symbols and logic, which mimics human reasoning. In the 80s it started to be used for solving practical issues (MYCIN for example helped with diagnostics and XCON helped with configuring computers), and in the 90s AI was used for video games (chess) and speech recognition. Since the 2000s and mid 2010s we’ve used search engines, spam filters, and digital assistants (siri, alexa, etc) which relied on AI. It wasn’t until the late 2010s that GENERATIVE ai started to be used.

ai is literally ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE. you can't play ANY game without dealing with it. mobs? ai, npcs? ai, bots?, ai, pathing? ai. ai IS a good thing for making games, I'd go as for to even say it's almost a necessity if you want to make a game.

Yall need to listen to Soup is Good Food by the Dead Kennedys. Coding AI was seen as bad back in the 70s/80s. I’m against generative ai bc I feel like its affect on the job market is way worse than introducing computers, but it’s interesting to see how even coding ai was seen in a negative light at one point

Some people just dont get that "ai" is a term so broad that it includes generative ai like chatgpt, simple programs like enemies in games, sci-fi level digital consciousness, and literally the most basic programs ever written. "Ai" is fine; generative ai is absolutely not

I saw someone bash an artist I really like & is making a game for *checks notes* considering using text to speech for their videos bc they were sick, said person bashing the artist said it was AI ;^: (tts can be genai, but its very expensive and typically less wanted than the voice banks we have like miku & siri)

Personally what i usually do to judge AI is if a human physically cannot do smth but AI can its fine, writing essays: a human can do, art: a human can do, which is stuff that commonly called bad uses for AI
