Lots of Americans eat Indian food. To be fair, Brits being overwhelming more familiar with Indian food probably has a lot to do with the colonizing bit. 😋 I’m glad you found a place that served tasty Indian food since I know you know really GOOD Indian food!

You have to ask for the spice. They make it nonspicy as a default and then you tell them “hey, I can handle my spice so load it up.” They’ll take care of you 😁

Most Indian restaurants are owned and ran by Indian families so it’s pretty good anywhere you go - at least in my opinion. I live a couple hours away from lake placid!

If you happen to be in North Jersey, you’ll find more and better Indian restaurants. That’s where there’s a big Indian population. All sort of different Indian cuisines and sweet shops.

If you do want spicier, just ask the staff. Many places here in US will also make their own paneer in house.

because we have so many different immigrant communities represented in the US there is absolutely good food of most ethnicities SOMEWHERE (or a lot of somewheres), but not necessarily everywhere because its such a big country and there are definitely pockets of places that have larger ethnic communities. there are quite a lot of south asian communities well represented in most areas though. I grew up in a very rural southern town my graduating class was 35 and even there i had Indian friends. there were actually three different unrelated sets of Patels at my school lol.

I’m in central Texas everyone I know eats Indian food. I have it at least once a week, some I’ll cook myself. We even have an Indian store to buy all the right spices and such

I feel like where I lived in the US there was a lot more Southern Indian food while I find a lot more North Indian and Pakistani food here in the UK. All unreal ❤️Highly recommend a coconut uttapam with coconut chutney and sambar if you find a Southern place!

I think that most of us, or at least half of us, have had Indian food. It depends on where you live though, if there’s a place near you. I imagine it’s also because there’s historically a bigger Chinese diaspora than Indian, so you could throw a stone in any direction anywhere and hit a Chinese place. But I feel like it’s the opposite in the UK lol
