ok, since you asked nicely, it was in fact done to prevent revanents from coming back to life, however everyone of them were tax men so it was to prevent post mortis taxation.

This brings to mind the phrase “saved by the bell” 🔔 where bells were installed by graves with strings going into the coffin in the event someone was buried prematurely and woke back up (from a coma for example) and could be dug back up
