Personally, deconstructing monogamy has helped me a lot with this. Realising I don't have to fall out of love in order to love again gave me the space and the will to let myself live with it in a healthy way.

Aww. I feel this one. I fell utterly in love at 24, unrequited. We stayed in touch occasionally these nearly 50 years. I can't imagine loving anyone else like that. But I have loved others since. Just differently. And it's good.

I see myself as eternally single either cos of the bad ex or the good one. Good one married in 2012. Still haven’t digested. And lost too many years from disappointment either way I have ni more time to waste with men. Stayed stuck in time thanks to both. They both tie in to the fun times in Switzerland that have kept me stuck. Actually, I knew the psychiatry would decide for me that I would never have kids or be single for life as soon as they messed with my life & kept me stuck here.
