Not really. The bakongo people were Sent off to the Portuguese to establish relations with them by their king,hence why the Kikongo language is a Latin based language. The later Portuguese and the free state absorption of the Kongo was due to the state being useless and not being worthy of being independent at the time.

Portugal did not colonized Congo. Congo was colonized around the time of the Berlin conference (1800s) and only by Belgium. You're correct on everything else.

Congo wasnt colonised fully in the 14-1500's (They were limited to the costal regions and mainly focused on what is now Angola) however everything else you said is completely correct.
