Cops and firefighters disagree constantly. Generally, the cops are the ones that are wrong.

Firefighters are real first responders. Cops are 3rd or 4th at best.

Many years ago I came across a crime scene just after a suspect had been shot in the thigh. The situation was totally under control. The cops were just standing around. I could see the blood loss rapidly expanding through this guy's pants. I informed the cops that I was a doctor and asked permission to apply pressure to the wound until emergency responders arrived. They asked if I was a board certified, residency trained emergency room physician. I said no. They told me to leave. So I stepped back and watched. The ambulance arrived. The suspect was barely conscience and the emergency personnel were frustrated that nobody had been pressure to the wound. I just left.
