And honestly, I get it — traveling somewhere where you don’t know the language can feel intimidating. But here’s the truth: you can absolutely come here and have an amazing experience, even if you don’t speak a word of Portuguese. Brazilians are some of the most patient, kind, and welcoming people you’ll ever meet. They’ll smile, they’ll wait while you mime, and half the time they’ll figure out what you’re trying to say before you do 😂 When I first came here, I didn’t speak Portuguese at all. Zero. And still, I fell completely in love with Brazil. From ordering food to making friends, people always met me with warmth and helped me along the way. Of course, I’ve been putting in the time to learn, because even a couple of words go such a long way. A “tudo bem,” or a “obrigado,” will earn you smiles instantly. But don’t let not knowing the language stop you from experiencing this place. Brazil is too beautiful, too fun, and too full of heart for that.
