He was asked about it, he said to the person, "Sounds like a programmatic SEO play where you iterate through a large list of domain names, technologies, attributes, finding all possible combinations. Programmatic SEO like this often leads to a site that is either spam, borderline spam, low quality. Our systems have possibly lost faith in your site providing good value to users based on the old pages." - John Mueller, search advocate at Google This means if you do parasite SEO on a money site, an existing site that ranks that's very important to you, if you do it wrong, it could be hard to recover from. Google has a penalty called Scaled Content Abuse. An example is "stitching or combining content from different web pages without adding value." Scaled AI pages are also often hit by this. Here's somebody who got hit by last month's spam update. Says all posts were "100% AI-generated content." Things were going all right until the update right over here. Traffic spikes down. This person deleted 200 AI-generated blog posts. With new better content, it took a couple months to recover. Lots of people try expanding programmatic SEO with more generated data, for example, using AI to answer common questions. "That does not make it more useful for users."
