an album is 1 hour long, a book is not. life is too short to endure a book that you dont like 🤷🏻♀️I usually give it 30% i think that’s fair enough to judge. So many great books out there, be selective

Yes, what if I dnf at 75% and EVERYTHING comes together and becomes a masterpiece because of the ending and I didn’t give it a chance? I’ve read A LOT of book that I loved that only made sense till the end

Life is short… and I understand you wanting to give it the full chance however I see books as an art form, if I don’t like a piece in a gallery, I’m not standing looking at it for 10 mins, respectfully I’m going to walk right past and spend more time with favourite pieces. I don’t owe the artist / author anything. They created it in the hopes it connected with someone and it wasn’t me, that’s ok. 50% I don’t like, DNF.

I used to be like this but some books are just torturous as an experience. One of my favorite authors, John Williams said “to read without joy is stupid” and it made me want to be kinder to myself.
