It doesn’t matter what I do my cast irons always get messed up and I’ve done everything I can think of to try and save them. They’re unusable

I listened to someone who said to put it on the lowest heat & a much thinner layer of olive oil. did i ruin it? it was a borrowed cast iron & the owner wasn't able to give me proper cleaning instructions so I relied on a neighbor who owns cast iron.

What can you use if you don't have bacon grease... I have the skillet of my mother and they need seasoning really bad !! Never done this before.

Most people don't realize how resilient cast iron is. As long as they don't crack or pit really bad, they are savable.
