I want to add a disclaimer: I know this is dangerous and could have ended very badly. The cage door being left unlocked was a total accident and of all my 20+ years of having parrots has literally never happened before. They are NEVER left together unattended. Now I will say that Trusty and Arthur were raised around our birds and have been desensitized to them. We do have the birds out of their cages for socialization in the same room as the dogs sometimes but there is ALWAYS a human present and the birds are on perches high up away from the floor. And we only feel comfortable doing that because we have worked hard with our dogs to not care about the birds. They also just naturally have a very low prey drive even for wild animals. This will NEVER happen again. Please if you have multiple species in the house don't leave them unattended together because you never know what could happen. I'm very proud of our boys for not caring about Russel pestering them. This video is only funny because they were so well behaved around such a small creature that is essentially prey.

Oh my goodness 😭😭😭 They are so good 🙏 How sweet! This is too cute. I unfortunately experienced the alternative. My dog Mischa actually ate my grandmother’s beloved cockatiel growing up 😭. I had her maybe a month. She was a beautiful husky girl with 2 different colored eyes. One blue one green. I’m not certain how it happened. My grandpa fell asleep and Checo got out of his cage because he could lift the door with his little beak. He learned to break out. Mischa got a hold of him. My grandma got home and found Checo in Mischa’s mouth. Of course I was sad but also hurt that everyone in the house turned on Mischa. A few days later I woke up and Mischa was gone. They gave her away in the middle of the night while I was asleep. Dude I was heart broken. It was traumatizing. My grandpa assured me she went to a good home. But it was so sad all around. I had 2 losses in the matter of a few days. 😭
