Well, all income taxation is theft and I also don't think we should have sales tax on necessary items like food, medical care, housing, transportation etc. Up to a certain level. I have the most out-of-pocket one, there’s no such thing as “taxes”, taxes are just the other side of the money printing equation. We print money and inject it into the economy where we want it, then we tax the extra $$ back out - to encourage or discourage certain behaviors.

I don’t think taxes are something that would turn on someone in the first place lmao. Unless financial topics come up in conversation for something important, discuss anything by all means. But I strongly believe that discussing anything financial including money and taxes, to find out people’s views on how they handle it, it is an automatic red flag or turn off in my opinion. Income taxes should be abolished. FICA should fund social security and Medicare. Also no cap. Or stop the abuse. Gas tax should fund roads and infrastructure. Property tax should fund education. Sales tax should fund defense.

VAT is a tax on the poor and should be reduced if not abolished, national insurance is a tax on the poor and should be abolished (it goes into the same pot now anyway, you may as well just include it in the much more fair income tax). The idea some people have that you can’t or shouldn’t be taxed on the same money twice is insane, it happens all the time. Minimum pricing on alcohol is a scam, it should be a duty instead so it actually goes to funding the NHS, then it would actually be helping the issues excessive drinking causes that minimum pricing is supposedly trying to reduce rather than disproportionately impacting the poor. Estate tax impacts such a tiny percentage of the wealth of such a tiny percentage of the population that it could be raised significantly without it making a blind bit of difference to almost anyone. Corporation tax should be higher in London to encourage growth outside of the South East; and finally, economists are the worst people to listen to about the economy because they’re unable to realise the economy exists to serve us, not the other way around and that people aren’t inherently rational and don’t do or not do things because interest rates went up .4%.
