As someone who had substance disorders and later went back to school to study the science behind that mindset, anything - and I mean anything - can turn into an addiction. It’s a very slippery slope.

I hired a brilliant psychologist who was in recovery who was triggered by money. He could only earn a mid-range salary because anything higher would cause him to slip back into alcoholism.

No reason to be embarrassed! It happens all the time and the employees won't bat an eye. You don't even have to say anything about money. For decorations you could say, "They just didn't fit my needs" or for clothes, "I realized these weren't for me." And you'll actually feel better because you won't stress about the money anymore! You got this, girlfriend!! 💪🏻💪🏻
