It’s kind of chic to be a doctor and not sell supplements ✨ I LOVE being a medical journalist. It’s very different from an influencer, and I like it that way. And I promise I will tell you everything you need to know to get a product that is safe and healthy, but I usually draw the line at recommending a certain brand name because this could be seen as an endorsement from me—and that’s not my goal. So to answer the question I get at least a dozen times a week: for psyllium, I recommend a product that has been vetted by a third party to check for possible contaminants, and, ideally, one where there is just one ingredient: psyllium. That’s it—those are my two criteria, and there are several products out there who meet them. I like the powder form because I find it easy to mix into a drink and not think about it again. Capsules are great too—but you have to take more than you think to actually get the recommended dose, which I find annoying. I usually put 1-2 tsp of the psyllium powder into my coffee (I either drink it fast, or if I’m having a more leisurely afternoon, keep a tiny spoon in there to stir occasionally so it doesn’t gel up, and that works great!) each tsp of the powder has 3-5 grams. Remember to start low and ramp up slowly! But honestly? If you prefer your psyllium flavored or in cracker form, you do you. Get your fiber how you need to get your fiber. I’m here for the big wins, not to make the bar so impossible that none of us feel we can reach it! #guthealth #supplements #doctor #journalism #healthy
