You all need to understand that not all haitians are black. We, black haitians are not the indigenous people from haiti, our ancestors were brought from Africa. But they also brought people from all over the world. And not all africans are black. Indigenous Taíno people lived there before colonization, thus before us. Then Europeans arrived, immigrants came from the Middle East, Asia, and other parts of the world. So, it seems like we are confusing race and ethnicity. As in black might be our race, our skin color but not our ethnicity, which refers to our cultural background as a nation.

Some people in the comments are really ignorant. Don’t forgot that hatian is a nationality not an ethnicity. There’s also Arab, Indigenous, white, asian haitian that immigrated years ago. The island belonged to the TAINOS before. learn your own history before commenting

Our country’s history brought together African, Indigenous, and european roots, so you’ll see Haitians with dark, medium, or light skin, different hair textures, and unique features
