The Kakan no Gi ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace on Saturday, September 6, 2025. At the Kakannogi ceremony, Prince Hisahito wore a keteki no hou, the imperial attire worn by the Emperor and other male members of the Imperial Family when they are minors, and a kucho kokusaku, a type of forehead protector worn by the Emperor and other male members of the Imperial Family when they are minors. During this ceremony, Prince Hisahito was given the crown that he had received from His Majesty the Emperor during the ceremony to bestow the title of Crown. This crown is fitted with a tail-and-tail ornament called an enbi-no-ei. The tail-and-tail ornament is an old style of ornament used during the Heian period, and has been passed down as a style used especially during crowning ceremonies. In Japan's Imperial Family, the coming-of-age ceremony has long been held as a coming-of-age ceremony for male members of the Imperial family, and a confirmed example is Emperor Shomu's coming-of-age ceremony at the age of 14 in 714, when he was still Crown Prince. #hisahito #愛子内親王 #japaneseroyalfamily #ImperialPalace皇居
