@jonny5dawson: I took my New Zealand cousins for a tour of the Klondike Goldfields. This is hydraulic mining,more commonly known in the Klondike as monitoring,as the water cannon used to direct the water stream is called a monitor. In the US placer fields it’s also known as a “Giant” This form of stripping overburden is low cost and low impact and was developed (I believe) in the California gold rush. This area in the video is Green Gulch on upper Sulphur Creek in the Klondike district of the Yukon Territory. #yukon #klondikelost_photography #yukon #klondike #canada
