@barkatenehismiles: Ever wonder what those tiny “ties” on braces actually do? Here’s a closer look at the different types of ties we use with both twin brackets and Damon brackets (when needed): 🔹 O-Ties (Elastic Ligatures) O-ties are small elastic rings placed around each bracket to hold the archwire in place. With traditional twin brackets, they’re essential for securing the wire. With Damon self-ligating brackets, O-ties aren’t typically required since the bracket has a built-in door— but sometimes, your orthodontist may use them to make specific adjustments or to add a pop of color. 🔹 Cross Ties (Figure-8 Ligatures) Cross ties look similar to O-ties, but instead of looping around the bracket once, they’re stretched in a figure-8 pattern across the wings of the bracket. This provides extra control of the tooth, helping with rotation or keeping the wire more snug in the bracket. 🔹 Power Chains (Elastic Chains) Power chains are connected elastic loops that span across multiple teeth. Their job is to help close spaces between teeth or keep gaps closed after movement. They apply continuous gentle pressure and can be used with both twin and Damon brackets when space closure or additional control is needed. Each of these ties plays a different role in moving teeth efficiently and predictably — and your orthodontist selects them based on what your smile needs at each stage of treatment. #braces #orthodontis #damonbrackets #clearbraces
