@drbobbyparmarnd: The most frequently used management tool to deal with perimenopause by South Asian women is to “be mentally strong”. Are you kidding me? 😒 Indian (and South Asian women) have some of the hardest times going through perimenopause and menopause. Depression is a big part of it. And we do not talk about it.🤫 Indian women report menopausal symptoms such as weight gain, joint and muscle pain, hot flashes, hair loss, emotional upheaval, irritability, fatigue, and sleep disturbance. 🥱 Mental strength could use a helping hand. How you’re supposed to be able to cope with all that life offers in your 40s, while going through hormonal upheaval and oxygen deprivation due to iron deficiency (more on that later), is beyond me. One of the best ways to help is honestly, estrogen therapy. And we don’t talk about it, enough. 🤫🤫 Bring this up with your doctor. I hope they are aware or are open to opening their eyes. 👀 *A 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of perimenopausal women with clinically significant depressive disorders. The key findings showed 68% remission of depression in the group receiving the 100 mcg estradiol patch, compared to only 20% in the placebo group. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11386980/ This is just one of many studies supporting the use of estrogen in perimenopause and menopause. We have a lot of clinical data to back this up and millions of women who can attest to it. I’ve been prescribing hormone replacement for 13 years. I’m just getting started.
