This is why we do CYA emails. "As per our call, the decision is not to invest in protecting mission critical data. This decision will put data on $%$# server and it's database at risk of a hardware failure. This it's not our recommendation, due to the potential DL risk. " Even still mgmt will say they were not warned, but it's better then nothing.

we had the same issues a couple of years ago... they had to reprints all the invoice from the printer disk of print history.. reenter all of the invoice manually,in order to keep the invoice number... for like the 2 last weeks of December

2013 a degraded array still has data on it. I used to do drive recovery in Adaptec arrays. As long as you have all the drives 85% shure I could have gotten that data. But I will tell you a moden backup scheme would have been cheaper.😊

I had done an attempted migration from hardware to vm using the old Microsoft tool so I still had a mirror of the database 1 week before it was wiped out.

They always say that and we tell them okay when it fails you tell that department their data is gone. This never ends IT to most businesses is money drain and we always cry more please. But data runs businesses not sporting event tickets 😩

Yeah, I have same stuff, I set security measures and then owner came and said hey, I'm tired of that notifications, I said that it's not a big deal and I want to make sure there's clear log about any actions then he said to shut them down, I've explained that it's can be bad and server might be compromised because of vulnerability, well he didn't cared about it, so I get it done, now I'm just waiting when time bomb detonate. Sometimes they have no idea why the things that we're going are important.
