My neighbor passed from an infection that should have been easily eliminated by antibiotics but since she always took them anytime she was ill they didn’t work when she really needed them. I’ve only taken antibiotics once in the last 5 years.

The key is that they used AI as a starting point - not as a finished answer. They didn’t publish the first, second, or even third list of molecules. They tested them as human beings and just used AI to speed up the brainstorming process - amazing!

My brother had an infection with a. baumanii. One of our antibiotic options, which unfortunately came off the table due to osteomyelitis, was AI-discovered. I asked the infectious disease doctor the name of the drug and he said, "I can't pronounce it yet." 😂

the research lab i’m in uses ai to detect arousal waves (not like that you freaks) in patients who are on opioid maintenance treatments to determine how often they’re using outside of their maintenance. we also will NEVER use the info to penalize patients or to gather evidence. it’s nice not to have to parse through thousands of hours of data when a machine does it for us
