San Francisco is driven by capitalism. It’s where the venture capitalists and private equality firms reside. They fund tech in Silicon Valley. The past 20+ years the tech community took over with high compensation. It’s common for people in the Bay to make 300k as an engineer. With dual income people can afford those 6k a month apartments. If they exercise stock options they can turn into multi millionaires (or even billionaires). In reality the economy drives high income earners into the area while forcing others out. Tech really is where it’s at. Same with finance.
