i think a lot of people need to take a better look into angles character. sa victims cope in their own way. everyones experience is different. people can cope is healthy ways or they can end up coping in bad ways. I've read coments of people whos been in the work angles in and thinks he's great rep.

I saw someone say that Out For Love only has one singer. While that is true, Poison is still entirely unique. Out For Love is still a song for two characters, because it is Camilla addressing Vaggie. It is a teaching from her to Vaggie. Poison, however, is Angel alone. Yes, there are people around him, but he is alone. He is not singing to/for anyone, he is scared/hurt, and no one else is building/developing anything off of it. In a way, I feel like that shows how Angel feels. In most of the other songs, characters are benefitting from each other, supporting each other in some way, or showing a conflict that still involves another character. Even in Camilla's song, since she is supporting/addressing Vaggie. Angel feels stuck and alone. His only character conflict (I hope I'm wording this right) is in the scene rather than spoken in the song because he feels no one around him can hear/see/understand what he's experiencing. It's also why no one reacts to his song, while all the other songs have characters reacting to them in some way.

As a SA/Abuse survivor who has found so much healing in Angel, Thank you for this 🤍 I’m tired of constantly having to defend my existence and experience as a Survivor because people have for some reason decided that his story and anyone who may relate is… contributing to a f3tish ?? For simply being a Survivor ?? 😵💫 It is so exhausting to have my own experience constantly belittled online for not being “Accurate” enough. Angel IS good rep for the simple fact that there are millions of Survivors who relate to him. Survivors who relate to him are not a Monolith, however people who don’t relate to him are ALSO not a Monolith. The Good Rep vs. Bad Rep war needs to end.

I didn’t go through the same thing as Angel, but I really relate to having to put on a mask and hide inside my mind as a person with ASD. Even without the same trauma. Angel is just a really comforting character to me.

Hazbin needed more episodes to flesh out the story they wanted to tell. So much is written out due to time issues and I think the show suffered for it. Poison remains one of the more important musical numbers that fleshes out the episode perfectly. It fits and makes perfectly clear how Angeldust is living in perpetual haze, unsure of any of his boundaries and where they end.

I wish that the episodes of season one were more like masquerade; it makes more sense to me that the first season would be more about Charlie learning that people are a lot more complicated than just “sinning=bad, make them stop sinning and everything will be better!!” and developing true relationships with her patrons and staff. The heaven story could be hinted about throughout but it shouldn’t have been the focal point just yet.

the other thing as well on the whole reality which I do feel you brushed on but internet needs things spelling out, and it's also why this song is one of my favourites especially in production wise, with other songs when it goes into it's fantastical moments as you said you can tell that it's not real, but with poison there's parts where it's "is this real to angel or is this totally fake like luicifers tent"

God I love poison as a grooming survivor. It’s animation especially and his expressions like perfectly expresses how difficult it is to express sensuality without everything associated with it being deeply uncomfortable for you.

something I've always found interesting about "Poison" vs the rest of the soundtrack is that it is established that the musical numbers are mostly diagetic (as in happening in tandem with the characters, they are aware that people are singing and dancing). this is usually used for comedic effect, like the gangsters commenting on "Loser, Baby" and Angel poking fun at Charlie's dancing in ep 1, etc. but I think is notable when it comes to Poison because it's one of, if not the only song that isn't acknowledged by the characters themselves, really blurring the lines between fantasy and reality as we, the audience, dont even know if this song could be heard by anyone but Angel
