He has a song called White America that’s all about this

One thing I miss about Eminem's heyday was that he made mediocre white men who knew nothing about Black culture and had no Black friends, too afraid to rap. After Eminem quieted down and stopped making popular music, every white boy thought they were the next Slim Shady so now we've got garbage like Jack Harlow & that Ian guy from the XXL Cypher.

Its actually the other way around.. the young white guys had Eminem AND Good Charlotte AND Fred Durst AND Tony Hawk AND Warped Tour etc. The only role models these young dudes have are the bizarro children of Mystery the pick up artist.

I mean, I don’t disagree, but I think we’re more just throwing a tantrum over the gradual discontinuation of our unearned privilege. So much of this right wing xtian nonsense and going back to “traditional” values is trying to recapture a social order where white men had life on easy mode. Irony is, there have always been plenty of poor, white ppl taken advantage of by US society as well but, as LBJ said, “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”

That might be giving too much credit to Eminem's influence. But every bit helps.

Do they even have music as an outlet anymore? Or just podcasts & streamers?

Eminem and other music subcultures/genres that went mainstream became outlets for subconscious frustrations in white america. It’s not readily available anymore so this void is filled with alt right media/podcasts or this new “country pop” genre

That's a lot of eaching. It overlooks so much, and it puts sp much onto a few things where so many more had the same experience yet didn't. This is the same type of trope as the short-sighted white explanation of black crime and poverty.

Eminem was one of the last few rappers that was good and creative at storytelling. It took until Kendrick to out do him.

There's no mainstream alt white people anymore; any alt white people are not really front and center, they are considered indie and subgenres with small internet followings

I also think characters like J-ROC from trailer park boys gave the wangster archetype some duality to where if you are running from yourself or being a phony/sellout - it’ll be obvious. Also they had rap battles and dance battles on MTV - activities that featured a lot of poc and they *were* the cool ones to aspire to 😭

this is brilliant. What gets me about Eminem is that he’s progressive, but he’s also angry. Not everyone is an academic and that’s okay.

This is very interesting- also, aside from eminem emo music and prior to that grunge provided an outlet for negative emotions. I have no idea what these angry people are going through but a lot of emo music and eminem had an emphasis on family pain.

I think both Eminem and a lot of the emo/punk/alternative bands, and some rock bands (not all because there are some ‘traditional’ leaning bands out there) helped to serve the same purpose. It was a way and I think in some cases still is a chance to let out those big huge emotions and let everyone know what we are thinking. Most of the time when it comes to rock, punk, and alternative music. It comes in the form of loud speakers and screaming into the microphone. Sometimes we need to listen to a sad, angry song and let it out so we can actually work on our stuff. We let out all the emotion we had stuffed inside so that we can have room to understand why we’re actually acting the way we do and reflecting on ourselves. If you’ve ever been to a emo/metal concert let me tell you even if you don’t really know the lyrics and you just do your best to scream along… It’s oddly cathartic
