My 2005 corvette was just as bad. If it died you had to use the key in the trunk lock and crawl into the front seat. So it’s not just an Ev thing.

If I remember correctly it originally had a handle on the backdoor but they found people in testing weren't using it

Are you just assuming that it saves a "tiny, tiny bit of aerodynamics"? It may seem like a small design change but it can really make a difference in drag, especially at high speeds

I liked the Mach-E handles a lot more than I like to handle on the Tesla I have now. you get used to it And it's really nice how it just pops open for you

This is such a dumb take. What do you mean charge the battery - it’s an EV and it has a fucking huge battery on it! If the battery is dead something is seriously wrong with the car. Also this design means it doesn’t need mechanical locks so it’s roughly the same amount of complexity. If you don’t like the design that’s one thing but these aren’t stupid design decisions.

I was briefly out of a car because of those stupid handles. Sold mine to lease one of these. The first time I go down the lease system is down so they tell me to come back next week. the day before I go down again they say there's a recall because of those handles and they cant give me the car anymore. It could've been months to fix it luckily it was a week.
