I love Maelle so much and I think that's WHY I chose Verso's ending; he understood that in the very end, that's what's best for her. Even if she doesn't see it right away.

To me the endings symbolise 2 things: there's kindness in cruelty (Verso), and there's cruelty in kindness (Maelle). I understand completely why Maelle does what she does if you pick her ending and it's sad because she thinks she's being kind when the ultimate kindness would be to let Verso go and move on no matter how hard. Maelle still has her family who still cares about her (Renoir was willing to annihilate the last remnant of his son to save his wife and daughter, after all) so even though she doesn't think it, with the canvas gone the family has the chance to move on and truly heal. I love Maelle so much, what an incredible character

Will always choose Maelle. The first being the Dessendre family are wrong in the first place. You don’t create life and destroy it on a whim. You’re responsible for your creations. It’s equivalent of nuking the world to save your family member. If you wield a power you can’t control you shouldn’t use it. On a much more personal level Alicia never asked to become Maelle. Aline’s Chroma overwrote her. It’s equivalent to kicking your kid into foster care, then 16 years later deciding you love her and the other family she loves should be destroyed. Parents are responsible for their kids, they don’t exist to complete them. They didn’t ask to be born. The only negative in Maelle’s ending is verso’s soul and again that’s on the parents. Maybe don’t have them create worlds where their souls are trapped for eternity. Let them make that choice when they’re older. At any rate, We continue.

Verso aging in Maelle’s ending may imply she’s giving him the opportunity to live out a life and die. I didn’t choose Verso’s ending since the people in the canvas ARE sentient and the game implies they are as real as the people outside the canvas. Clea remains indifferent of their existence, Verso is making the choice for the people regardless of the consequences, Alicia is constantly silenced by everyone in her family (painted without a voice, silenced by verso throwing away the letter, etc), and Renoir wants to destroy the canvas to save his family. Even the people in the canvas never had a voice in this godly conflict where their lives were at stake. Despite it all, I still loved EVERY character. Man, what a great game! 😮💨

It’s the way verso fans think he’s such an empathetic character and he wasn’t by far, he was a manipulator from start to end. The way none of them gaf about lumiere either.

Your caption 😭😭😭 I fully agree and I don’t understand all the maelle hate over the ending, how can you not empathize with her?? Obviously we empathize with verso too, that’s the point to me is that neither ending is “right”, both are drenched in grief and tragedy. Oh and also devastating edit, thank you 🥲

i couldn't actually bring myself to chose Maelle for the ending. I figured she'd be 'living' her life as a complete lie, an escape from her reality. Its almost like never fully recovering from what happened to her and chosing to escape it 🤔

Ending said "decide the fate of the Canvas" so I chose Maelle's. The people of Lumiere deserve to live and should live, even if it's on borrowed time. Too bad the majority of the play base has speculated on her ending to oblivion to paint it as the obviously bad one. 👎

I just realized maelle and Alaina’s hair color ties into the gommage petal’s. Renoir’s gommage petals are red while Aline’s are white. When maelle is aligned with the curator, Renoir, her hair is red like his chroma petals and when she begins acting like her mother her hair becomes white, like her mother’s gommage petals
