Yeah MO doesn’t understand that a lot of states don’t give you the title until the car is paid off! My current car was bought here/MO and I got the title immediately just with the lein hold, but TX for example doesn’t do that!

Bought a car but kept my old plates. To renew I have to prove that I paid personal property tax on this vehicle and my old one. But I haven’t paid personal property tax on this one yet 😅

I grew up in Illinois. The first car I bought in Missouri was an absolute nightmare. Why do we have to go to the court house just to get to the DMV just to tell us the court house gave you the wrong paper. Absolutely dumb. 🤣🤣

Wait till you get bounced around between 2 counties courthouses for a tax waiver that shows you don’t owe any taxes and there’s no taxes owed on the vehicle. They both refused to talk to the other and kept sending me to the other county.

I’m going on a year of trying to get mine done. It’s absolutely ridiculous!! I bought mine in Colorado and Missouri refuses to work with them. You know it’s bad when you get pulled over and the police officers just shrug and say they understand, have a nice day.

They are supposed to be making it easier and sales tax paid when you buy the vehicle so you should get your plates same time. Don't know how that will work for out of state transfers...?

It’s frustrating how each state’s DMV are different! My kid moved from MO to KS so will owe MO personal property tax for the WHOLE year (Jan-Dec) plus also had to pay KS vehicle tax from June through next April. So June-Dec they pay BOTH states 😵

Yeah, and there’s a law coming into the state house right now saying that they’re going to completely do away with temp tags so when you buy a car, you have to pay your taxes upfront no more 30 days or 20 days or whatever that temp tag is made up for you have to pay your taxes upfront so

When I moved from a state that keeps the title, the DMV sent the request to the previous state & got it back in three days? Maybe I just got lucky.
