@drterrysimpson: Over the Labor Day weekend, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay had a message for his followers on social media. Wear sunscreen! The television star announced that he had surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from his jawline. Basal cell carcinoma is one of the two most common forms of skin cancer and is highly treatable if it’s detected early. #education #doctor #sunscreen #safety #tips Dr Terry Simpson, MD, FACS
Yes! Having beaten basal cell twice, I never go without sunscreen.

When beef tallow is done right it does not smell like beef! If you’re going to wear a sunscreen you need to get it from Europe. They don’t put the dangerous chemicals in their products like we do.

I had a bone marrow xplant 14 years ago, 2 yrs later the subsequent GVHD led to skin cancer on my cheek, surgically removed. I have to be VERY careful in the sun!! 💀

The sun's needed though for the body to make vitamin D, which is needed for healthy bones & muscles. Sunscreen blocks the UV rays needed for this. How then do we get the hour a week of sun we need without risk of burning or skin cancer? Can we get it from VITAMINS? What happens if we don't get ENOUGH vitamin D?? 🤔

Hi Dr Terry - Off topic question - if you personally at 55 years had normal lipid panel + apoB 0.81 g/L + CT calcium 82 + family cardiac history, would you personally begin statins?

This is what I’ve heard and I could be wrong 🤔 If you use skincare and u don’t wear sunscreen and reapply every two hours if you’re in the sun. Don’t even bother with a skincare routine.

I don’t like wearing sunscreen so I started wearing sun hoodies 2 years ago. Hopefully that will work as well.

I get a yearly skin cancer screening by my dermatologist. A dermatologist can find and treat precancerous spots. She finds things that I never noticed.

People put a bit of sunscreen on then go and spend the whole day outside. In this sense sunscreen causes skin cancer.
