In Jamaica we go to the furniture maker and we choose the wood and he makes in. Usually in a bout 4 months when he told you 2 weeks. Buts it’s always solid. But it’s always better than store bought stuff.

You have to go to your local mom and pop furniture stores. A couple of years ago we were looking for a bed we were about to buy from IKEA when I visited my local furniture store and they custom made the bed frame out of solid wood for the same price as IKEA. And the price included installation.

local thrift. and no not an outlet thrift like savers or goodwill. an actual thrift store. drive about an hour and a half outside city limits (if you live in a city/ metro area) to a town with under 30,000 people and you'll find better deals

Soooo true. I was teyinf to find a dresser for my son‘s room. I found a nice dresser on Ashley furniture and thought it was somewhat decent. Had a good price. It showed up in a tiny package that I had to put together particle wood fake wood. I had to hire someone to put it togetherand it only lasted me for a year. I ended up finding a nice wooden dresser for 50 bucks and refined it and it’s great. I totally agree.

my father in law made my kitchen cabinets out of real wood, last year. expensive AF, but those will be there for generations. the cabinet under the sink, hanging cabinet, and MIL gave us a bar. best 10k we ever spent.
