Will this filter out water softener salt? I’m on well water, it’s tested pretty clean but it’s hard water so we had to install a water softening system.

I live in Iowa…high cancer rates and I want to reduce the nitrates we are exposed to in our water. I get nervous about filters because how do I guarantee it works the same after a few months? When it’s closer to replacement time, is it still filtering contaminants the same? How do I know if I need to replace it sooner? Most shower filters stop filtering the same after a few weeks…how do I feel confident knowing this will work for a full year?
