I do also think we have to acknowledge that even if elves allow dwarves to be their timekeepers or translator of time to time, that the dwarven system of time is not based around a 24hr day but rather a 36hr day due to their increased stamina and lack of the sun as an initial guiding timepiece due to their subterranean origin within mountains

This kind of happened in Medieval Europe. Not the time of day but they couldn't agree what day is was because their calendars were built around easter and easter was different times for different people
