One of the things I did to prepare for going into an accelerated bsn was getting an IUD. I know too many women who’ve had horrible experiences with IUDs, and that deterred me from even considering getting one up until now. For pain management during the insertion, I took: 300mg of Tylenol 30min before my appointment as directed (can take up to 600mg), was given a Lidocaine topical spray on the cervix, then 1 syringe on the cervix for more numbing, plus 2 others above the cervix. I had a fantastic MD who made this experience almost painless. Although the insertion was almost painless, the days afterwards were harder. For about 3-4 days I had intermittent cramping and had to take ibuprofens. Then a week later had 2 weeks of straight spotting. But since then I haven’t had a full period yet. I wanted to share my positive experience to encourage everyone to consider all options available to you💌
