This video completely fails to mention that palms need a ton of water. Most that are planted are not native and don’t support any local wildlife. We should be planting more native trees like oaks. This comment section is pmo. I want shade when I’m walking around!

I think palm trees of all varieties should continue to be planted on main streets throughout LA, ALONG with native trees. We can have both! Plant more native trees in neighborhoods. That's where the shade is needed to cool down homes and apartments.

We don’t desperately need shade. There’s plenty of it all over the city. But we desperately do need to keep the palm trees here in LA forever, and if you weren’t born and raised here, you have no say.

Palms might not be practical for shade, but they’re part of LA’s character, which is clearly what LACMA leaned into. Maybe hold Bass accountable for the real degradation of quality of life in LA instead.
