They do this parade every year in honor of the end of the war of japanese aggression and world anti fascist war (which is what they call ww2). They have been doing it for decades. 50+ years. The only reason its getting attention this year is that China actually imposed a threat to western elitism and they invited more leaders to join. Japan told countries to not go, cause they don't want people to learn or remember what horrors they did from 1932 to 1945.
