Nah but fr my 1001 chem professor required something from the funeral home and proof of travel when my grandpa died but a grad prof told me to come back only when I was in a good headspace

Told my organic chem professor I'd have to miss class and he got back to me quickly letting me know if I need any help outside of class he'd be there and put the written notes on canvas so we could copy them. Told my history professor at the same time and she sent me a thumbs up emoji with "Outlook for iPhone" and then went through more notes than I can take in one lecture. luckily it was Mesopotamia and I'm not a child

Unfortunately that’s spot on. This could never be me! My students are siblings, partners, parents, more importantly humans first before being a student. Nothing in class is ever that serious.

I submitted a paper that was due on a Friday on the following Monday because my actual mom died the week before and the professor docked me half a grade and ghosted me when I emailed him about it😭

Had to bring in the DATED mechanic’s bill and the tow truck bill to prove to my prof that my car broke down and thats why I missed class. He told me to take a bus next time. Dude there are NO busses from Tolland to UCONN. 😑😑

When I was in Grad School, we had to take an undergrad class as part of our program. Not only did she make us do a “this is how to use the library” session, some students had to miss a class for grad school stuff and she wouldn’t give them an excused absence or let them make up points.

i received a call during class that my nephew was born prematurely and would require a stay in the NICU. I showed my professor after class the messages and photos because we had an exam the next day and asked if I could make it up a different day since my situation would fall under my universities policy for an excused absence as stated in the syllabus. She then asked me to call my sister and have her send over all the medical documentation of the birth and NICU stay or I would need to come in tomorrow for my exam. I explained that she JUST gave birth, but I would be able to get the paperwork in a few days. She said “guess you’re taking the exam tomorrow, congrats on the baby though” and walked off. He was in the NICU because his lungs weren’t inflating properly and had difficulties breathing on his own and we weren’t sure what would happen. Thankfully he’s healthy and thriving now, but I will never forgive her for that.
