@nationalpark_news: What’s your favorite wildlife sighting? This elusive wolverine was spotted in Mount Rainier National Park. The amazing video was taken by Andrew Bellini, who shared it with the Cascades Wolverine Project.  Andrew says he was at an overlook when he saw a creature ambling along "in an abnormal posture that reminded me of an otter." Turns out, it was a wolverine!  "The rangers didn’t believe me until I showed them the video," Andrew added. "They said they had never seen one, and that I probably never will again.” "Observations like this are golden moments for community science," says the Cascades Wolverine Project, which connects science, storytelling, and recreation to support wolverine recovery in Washington state.  🎥: @andrew_bellini / @cascades_gulogulo #nationalparknews #nationalparks

I came face to face with a wolverine in the Bob Marshal Wilderness, Montana one summer. He was feeding behind a dead fall next to a stream. I didn’t see him until he rose up. Maybe 20 yards. Scared the hell out of me. Fortunately, we parted ways without incident.

Pretty cool. I collected historical wolverine records for the Sierras and southern Cascades years ago. I’ve seen them several times in Alaska and the Yukon.

Such a great animal. They can stand up to a grizzly and not back down.
