Google said there is no law that requires you to post private road signs. It could vary by state, but it may be in your best interest to post a sign. Utilities in our area are on utility easements not public easements. Some utility companies rent land from farmers and some are granted easement before the land was sold. Our utility companies maintain their own infrastructure not the city. Water is the only utility that the city maintains. Private roads in pur community maintain their own road— snow removal and pot hole or resurfacing. Installing street signs is discretionary of the city.
