@thoughtfulnutrition: When we take a photo with other people, why do we look at ourselves first? We immediately see our "flaws." We check to see if our biggest insecurities are on full display or not. Personally, I only critique myself in photos, no one else. I notice my "imperfections"and nobody else's. We are our own toughest critic. But why are we like this? Because society and diet culture taught us to see our bodies as projects to fix instead of homes to live in. What if we shifted the lens? What if we looked at the memory being captured instead of the way our legs, stomach, or face look? Take the photo. You deserve to be there, "flaws" and all. 🫶🏼 #ownworstcritic #bodyimage #positivebodyimage #bodyimagework #allbodiesaregoodbodies

Just so you know, despite having a critical eye, all I saw was a good-looking, healthy couple posing for a photo. Wouldn’t have noticed any of the things you pointed out and if I did it wouldn’t have been negative

The self critic is horrible. Catch it when you can and send it away.

I am the same way. I look at this picture and just see the ugliness of me. And not the beauty of the picture. I’m trying to be better for my son. Because I want to look at himself and see beauty.

I didn’t notice any of those things on you but I would have seen them on myself; I think you look healthy and beautiful!

We have twin legs! I used to be so self-conscious about them. In my 20s, I became temporarily paralyzed bc of nerve damage. Once I recovered I took up roller derby and could pull the entire team without a sweat. Now I’m so SO proud of my legs! 💪 btw you are absolutely glowing with the love of your life in this pic 🥰

I needed to hear this today! Just got back from an amazing trip with hubby and friends where I lived in a swimsuit and had so much fun but everyone sent pics and I’m spiraling.

I didn’t even judge any part of your body - I just saw your smile! We truly are our own worst critics.

Exactly💗 your legs and your body is what carried you through that hike, allowed you to make that memory. Despite what society tells us we should be focused on what our bodies can do for us, not how they look
